It happened Saturday, Jan. 25 at approximately 6:20 p.m. in Islandia.

An 18-year-old Bay Shore man was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Motor Parkway between Hoffman Lane and Veterans Memorial Highway when the vehicle became disabled in the roadway, Suffolk County Police said.

The driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
